Crafty Christmas Part One

I have been bitten by the Christmas Craft Bug and although I may be held back a bit by Strep Throat I am itching to get my craft on. I had a couple of hours of feeling ok Sat morning when I was up with kids and made this little Christmas Curio Box. I have plans for a mixed media painting and a banner to come :)

Oh and of course a few scrappies! Thank-you Heather for the gift :)

Deck the Halls

A few pictures taken last weekend as we start to get the house looking like Christmas :)

The girls each have a tree in their rooms, Kayleigh's is pink and Kasey's is purple.

I love these reindeer so much I actually kept them up all year long :)

Some crafty paper trees I made last year.

I love bowls full of ornaments.

A canvas I made years ago. I am working on a new one as we speak :)
Our advent felt tree, and some cuddlies that kids love.
The white bowl has Christmas mini albums of years past in it for us to look through. Some x-mas trees and ornaments in the glass vases and goblets.
Another bowl of ornaments :)
The tree in a new spot this year and a train for under the tree, the kids love the train!
I love this cute guy :)
The girls started a new tradition this year each picking out a new ornament for the tree. I can see this one being fun as the collection grows over the years.
Stay tuned for some crafty Christmas stuff :)

November Studio Calico Kit

I think this is the latest I have ever gotten to scrapping a kit after receiving it. Damn flu and sick kids really got in the way of my scrapping. Hardships I tell ya :)

Love these pics that Laurie and Dennis snapped of my sister at Kayleigh's birthday. My sister hates I MEAN HATES having her picture taken. So I thought it was pretty funny when they kept trying to get a pic of her :) Don't you love her long hair.
Some really adorable pics of Kasey, I love her little blond curls and how quiet and shy she was that day just taking in all the magic.
I used alcohol inks on a Hambly Transperancy here.
A bunch of funny things Kasey has said of late :) Got to get these down!
Kayleigh dancing in one of her favorite dresses.

Handmade love

I have been on a handmade crafty gifty run of late and wanted to share.

I LOVE this necklace it looks so much better in real life. Its dollar store beaded necklaces and a vintage brooch. Really it is and its so pretty. I like that you can take the brooch off and wear it with something else. This is for my sister Jamie :) shhhhhh
These flowers were made from a much loved jacket of mine that no linger fits! really how cool is that.
This one looks like a peppermint candy in real life and its an old shirt of Kay's I am making smaller ones with button centers for my nieces and kids.

This is a chain I bought at M's and some pink glass beads that I used hat pins (I think that's what they are called) to string them to the chain. Its really pretty too and for my sister :)

These are for my nieces a simple necklace of left over beads and some tulle :)

Marmie Swing

Marmie (my mom) made this cuper cute swing dress for Kayleigh just at the tail end of summer. Unfortunately she didn't get a chance to wear it. So the other day when she came down with it on, I thought why not? I think its pretty cute :) Great dress for dancing.

And some scrappies eh? A LO about our snuggle time of the day and one about Kay's first missing tooth. I love getting these stories told on my LO's.

This little home...Thankful.

This picture sums up a lot. This wall in our HOME. These pictures of our FAMILY, taken by people we love.

Yesterday I cried a lot. Happy cried. Pretty cries.

Yesterday was remembrance day. We honored the day by spending the morning at HOME, slowing down, making pancakes, creating a play scape, being together, enjoying what we have been given. I wasn't planning on talking to Kayleigh about 'remembrance' day...how do you explain that to a 4 year old. Later that day she came home from school with a poppy sticker and I asked if she knew why she was wearing it. She didn't and for some reason I sat down with her and put a remembrance day video on the computer for us to watch. I started crying while watching it and she asked me why? I explained to her WHY as best I could and she looked at me with these wiser than 4 years old eyes and said "Thank-you for telling me Mommy." (ps. later that night when I tried recount the story to Ryan at dinner she didn't remember what it was all about or was not interested any longer, kids.)

Then later that night as I was all cozied up in bed thinking of the day I had spent with the girls, I was completely overwhelmed with the feeling of being SAFE. and happy. and blessed. I laid there thinking how happy I am in our home. I am safe in our home. I love our family in this home. I love that we have food, and toys, and all of those things that make life 'easy, enjoyable, nice.' I love my hubby in this home.

The other day the girls told me that they LOVE THEIR FAMILY.

We are so blessed. I am so thankful.

We have bad days...and moments..and I yell a lot. But it doesn't matter.

This does.

PS. I have a strong need right now to give back to help. A few weeks ago we put together a family budget (have to help this Mommy act like a stay at home, single income family LOL) Well, this weeks budget has room in it...and I want to do something for someone else with that. Somehow I think it has more meaning for me if comes from 'my home money' if that makes any sense. So tomorrow the girls and I are going to pick out toys for other kids for Toy Mountain, and I am going to try and explain WHY to them.

PPS. You have to read this...its soul food.

Marmie's been at it again!

The girls and I ventured home to Norland last weekend to have a tree trimming party with Grandma, Grandpa, and my nieces. Marmie (AKA Grandma) had made these adorable jumpers for my girls. I love that they are red polka dot corduroy! Kayleigh's has a black ribbon detail, and Kasey's her monagram. It was really hard to get a good picture of them in the jumpers so here's a montage of the craziness :)
